Blessing upon Encountering Beauty
From the Greek words kallos- beauty, and graphein- write, we have the word calligraphy- “beautiful writing”. Therefore, it is fitting to express this blessing upon encountering beauty through calligraphy.
The words of this blessing spiral in the shape of the nautilus, a shell that has always captured my imagination. The nautilus is considered a sacred geometric shape because it conforms to the Golden ratio, or “divine proportion”. The Golden ratio manifests in countless forms in nature in addition to the nautilus- the shape of our galaxy, hurricanes, many flowers and the arrangement of their seeds, to name a few. The yellow sparks of light represent a cosmic explosion emanating from or coinciding with the nautilus, expressing the boundless energy and wonders of nature.
